James Island & Folly Beach 
James Island is one of the coastal islands located just south of downtown Charleston, SC.
It is mostly surrounded by the Clark Sound and marshlands and rivers. Great place to Kayak and fish. Folly Beach is just 3 miles south and has a gorgeous 3 mile long beach.
At the north end is Morris Island Lighthouse which is currently being restored and preserved. The south end of the island of Folly is one of the wonderful Charleston County Parks. There is a daily fee to enter and use the facilities or you can buy an annual pass for just $55.00 per year if you are a Charleston County Resident. The middle of the town of Folly is the Folly Fishing Pier. The Pier has many fishing tournaments and every day casual fishing. A wonderful neighborhood restaurant and bar Locklear’s has outside dining and indoor as well. Many weddings are captured here along the beach of Folly.

James Island also has another park, the largest in Charleston County. The James Island County Park. www.ccprc.com. This local park, located just 4 miles from Downtown Charleston is phenomenal for every member of the family. Pets are welcome and a Water Slide, Peddle Boat rental, Cabins and RV park, Spray zone and a huge play structure area for children of every age. The largest event is the Festival of Lights the entire months of November and December.
James Island also has a Senior Center which is very well attended by Seniors from Downtown, Johns Island, Folly Beach and other nearby neighborhoods. They have structured education, computers to use and learning, exercise classes, dancing, exercise and weight area. Walking paths and social organizations is also available.
James Island is also where the Battle of Sessionville was fought during the Civil War. The first shot was fired from Ft. Johnson’s beach area, a very short distance away from Ft. Sumter. You will enjoy living and playing on James Island.
